Less is more...

After years of decorating and re-decorating my space I've learned one very important fact. Less is more. The less crowded and busy a space is...the easier it is to clean and the cleaner it looks. Here are a few pictures of my decor in my kitchen.

Scrapbooking...my style

I was planning a dinner party at my house and wanted to finish decorating my mantle. With company coming in about an hour, I went upstairs to my office and started going through old scrapbook paper. I found some adorable paper and decided to put it in frames! This is a VERY inexpensive way to decorate a bare wall or mantle. I bought this scrapbook paper (pictured below) at Micheal's. It has over 50 sheets in a book so this project could easily cover a good bit of wall space.

If you have every been to my house...you know I'm obsessed with birds =). I loved this piece of scrapbook paper because it looks just like a small painting!

I just love this idea and will probably decorate my stairwell with similar scrapbook pieces. You can also change the scrapbook pages out during Halloween and Christmas  to make your house spooky.or festive. Hope ya'll try it soon!

Rustic Medallion

This medallion has been sitting in my basement for about 2 months now. I finally decided to paint it and here is how it turned out ....First I spray painted the medallion Ivory as seen below.

Second, after the paint was completely dry, I used sandpaper and sanded away the paint on all of the raised edges of the medallion.

Now i have a rustic ivory medallion to hang above my bed. This can be done with pretty much any store bought iron or wood piece =). It only took 10 minutes!
